When talking about pharmacogenetics and polymorphisms, it is important to look for a link between basic science and clinical practice. There are many factors that effect drug response such as age, patient organic and metabolic function, concomitant treatments, possible drug interactions and even the type of pathology. Being able to know the genetic characteristics of each person of the population from a set of procedures and test, would make it easier to optimize and adjust the dose for a given medical response and take previsions about the pathophysiologic status of the patient. The study of pharmacogenetics proves the roll of heritage (genetic polimorfism) in the individual response to therapy, making the drug and dosage selection for each patient easier in a specific situation.en
