City and Poetry: The Stage and Language

Abstract

The author explores the relation between city and poetry, regarding to contents of the urban landscape that inspire poetic creation. It specifically examines urban cultural forms, such as infrastructure, speech, customs, social relations, that make up a particular habitat immediately contrasting with the rural landscape: the bucolic setting of the countryside to the overwhelming metropolis. The city has served well to inspire the work of poets such as Lorca, Hemingway and Borges.El autor explora las relaciones entre ciudad y poesía, a propósito de los contenidos del paisaje urbano que inspiran la creación poética. Se examinan las formas culturales específicamente urbanas, tales como la infraestructura, el habla, las costumbres, las relaciones sociales, que componen un hábitat particular, contrastante de inmediato con el paisaje rural: del escenario bucólico de la campiña a la metrópoli abrumadora. La ciudad ha servido así para inspirar la obra de poetas como Lorca, Hemingway y Borges.
