La organización de las sociedades antiguas del Área Central de Costa Rica: una perspectiva desde la obra de Aguilar Piedra hasta nuestros días

Abstract

Se analiza los instantes en la obra de Aguilar en los que él fue más allá de sus temas e intereses predominantes en su carrera y se refirió directa y explícitamente a sus concepciones respecto a la organización social de las sociedades precolombinas. Se contrasta esta exposición con la información con la que contamos en el presente. De esta manera se evalúa qué tanto hemos avanzado desde el planteamiento original de Aguilar y se analiza qué tenemos y qué nos falta aún por investigar y conocer acerca de la organización social precolombina en el Área Central de lo que hoy es Costa RicaNot very often Aguilar went beyond the topics he was mainly concerned about and referred directly, and explicitly, to his own conceptions regarding pre-Columbian social organization. In this article we discuss and examine the few times he did it, and to do so, we contrst it with the information is currently available for the central area of Costa Rica. In this way, we can evaluate how far we have moved from Aguilar´s original approach, increase our awareness about what we are still missing about pre-Columbian social characterization, and about what type of data we require to advance in these issues.
