The Teaching of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a method of teaching the English language aimed at providing a more specialized education, generally to university students or employees, with the goal of enhancing specific language skills relevant to their careers.
This research project has designed a virtual course for employees at Bill Gosling Outsourcing Costa Rica. The focus of this course is to enhance language skills such as writing and oral expression in the English language while not neglecting reading and listening practice. This course follows the methodology of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT).
Initially, a research process was conducted to identify the English language deficiencies, weaknesses, needs, and preferences of the students through interviews and a diagnostic test. Based on the collected information, a three-unit course was designed to provide practices, strategies, and information that would enable students to more effectively perform their job-related tasks in the English language.
Subsequently, a literature review was conducted to identify the most effective teaching practices for instructing students in their oral production during the learning process. Several teaching strategies were included in the course to evaluate which one was the most effective in instructing students in their oral production. Therefore, through observations, questionnaires, and feedback from supervisors based on their teaching experience, an analysis process was initiated to determine which practices benefitted the population the most.
Explicit corrective feedback was one of the practices that facilitated immediate error correction by the student in their oral production. Considering the different stages of the lesson, some strategies were more beneficial than others. Positive feedback practices were necessary to motivate students, who reacted positively to being recognized for their achievements and efforts.

manera en la que los estudiantes perciben esta habilidad.; Listening comprehension is a key aspect in communication, and an ESP context is not the
exception to it. In the literature, the most prominent results are studies about strategies on
how to teach listening comprehension and about the cognitive load of the audio texts used
in listening classes, but very few of them are related to ESP settings. This study focuses
on strategies for tackling complex listening texts in an ESP course for investment experts
who are basic users of English. This qualitative research took into consideration the needs
of a group of fourteen investment experts for the creation of an ESP course for them. The
needs analysis showed that listening was the skill that they were more apprehensive
about and the one that had the lowest results. In addition, this project presents the
analysis of the results of the application of bottom-up and top-down strategies for teaching
listening and of the Cognitive Load Theory to modify authentic listening texts in the
classes the five students of this group took. The results show that lowering the cognitive
load of the audio texts and the materials and a combination of bottom-up and top-down
strategies can make a difference on the success of the tasks presented and the way
students perceive the skill.

The present research project includes two parts. The first one is the needs analysis of a group of students from the religious field, and the design of the course English for
Religious Purposes: Missioning Around the World, developed in three units that covered the main language skills. In the second part, the course was developed in a virtual environment, and a reflection was carried out to determine the usefulness of the listening strategies: mind mapping, note-taking, as well as summarizing and signposting. The analysis of the observations and participants; perspectives show that the most useful target strategies are mind mapping and note-taking to identify the main idea and supporting details of a text. In addition, the latter set of strategies seems less useful because of the time spent on practicing them and the materials selected for that class.

The main purpose of this Phenomenological study was to explore select Costa Rican secondary teachers' perceptions about the use of mobile devices in the classrooms. Ten secondary teachers from a high school located at the North Pacific coast of Costa Rica were recruited through a snowball sampling. The instruments to collect data comprised semi-structured interviews. An Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach was adopted to analyze in detail the participants' experiences. Findings from this Phenomenological study indicate that Costa Rican secondary teachers had mixed perceptions about using mobile devices for the teaching and learning process. They expressed that mobile devices are a "double edge sword;" if they are not used appropriately inside the classrooms, they can be detrimental to the students' learning process.
