Use of Distal Shoe for Premature Loss of Second Temporal Molar:
The maintenance of the temporal dentition until its natural replacement is very important, dueto the fact that the primary pieces are the ones in charge to secure the permanent pieces’ space, inaddition to guide the eruption process. The premature loss of temporal pieces could lead to: decreasein arch perimeter, desviation of the mid line, malocclusions, ectopic eruptions, crowding, impact and/or extrusion of permanent pieces, abnormalities in the mucous and acquisition of parafunctional habits. If early second molars extracted, can be used as a distal shoe maintainer; which is a complicated andsensitive technique, plus it is not suitable for all patients. This case report describes the use of a distalshoe in the inferior quadrant of a 5 years old child, the technique used, advantages and disadvantagesof the appliance, also monitoring for one year.

Application of the Method Case: Integration Between the Theory and the Surgical Practice
Modern teaching-learning processes demand student centered for educational methodologies, which develop skills such as collaborative work, analysis, problem solving, and others. The case method gives the opportunity to analyze a real situation in an academic environment, where students can discuss and apply higher cognitive requirements to relevant learning. The aim of this paper was to analyze the application of case method as participative seminars to supplement the Surgery Clinic course in the Faculty of Dentistry of University of Costa Rica.

Neuroimmunological Responses to Social Isolation
Objective social isolation and perceived social isolation are psychosocial stressors that may impair the normal functioning of the neuroimmune system. Chronic activation of the neuro-immuno-endocrine communication and the consequent loss of homeostasis may lead to the appearance of pathologies and associated mood disorders. For example, alterations in the hypothalamic-pituitary- adrenal axis and sympathetic nervous system dynamics may account for the observed predisposition to inflammatory diseases following chronic social stress. Therefore, it is necessary to further study the underlying mechanisms in social isolation in order to prevent its deleterious effects on health. The objective of this New Perspective article is to supplement the understanding of the neuroimmunological responses to social isolation and provide a basis for future research in this topic.
