El masaje infantil: conocimientos, experiencias y opiniones de profesionales de Enfermería Ginecobstétrica y Perinatal.
EL MASAJE INFANTIL: CONOCIMIENTOS, EXPERIENCIAS Y OPINIONES DE PROFESIONALES DE ENFERMERIA GINECOBSTETRICA Y PERINATAL
The article presents the results of an investigation that had as main objective to analyze the knowledge, experience and views of professionals and nursing Gynecobstetric and perinatal about the infant massage, those specialists work in hospitals and private clinics in San Jose. The study was conducted in the period December 2007 to June 2008, and developed a quantitative approach and transactional as methodologically exploratory. It should be stressed that after of the investigation and review of the respective literature, there were no studies directly linking the practice of infant massage with Gynecobstetric and perinatal nursing. The population consisted of Gynecobstetric and perinatal nurses who worked in the areas of maternal and neonatal care in hospitals and private clinics in San Jose. The data collection was carried out by applying a questionnaire. The analysis results are presented through descriptive statistics. The research showed that nurses and nurse midwives have a general knowledge of the importance of infant massage but do not know the techniques to do or to teach it. It also stressed that nurses and midwives of the study participants were considered the apt person to teach infant massage, because of their direct care interventions with parents and their babies and cause they`re willing to do it. El siguiente artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación cuyo objetivo principal fue analizar los conocimientos, experiencias y opiniones, de los y las profesionales en enfermería ginecobstétrica y perinatal que laboran en los hospitales y clínicas privadas de San José, respecto del masaje infantil. El estudio fue realizado desde diciembre del año 2007 hasta junio del año 2008. Su metodología responde a un enfoque cuantitativo, exploratorio y transeccional.La población estuvo conformada por los enfermeros y las enfermeras ginecobstetras y perinatales que laboraban en las áreas de maternidad y neonatología de los hospitales y clínicas privadas de San José. Se aplicó la estadística descriptiva. La investigación evidenció que los enfermeros y las enfermeras obstetras tienen un conocimiento general acerca de la importancia del masaje infantil pero no conocen las técnicas para realizarlo o para enseñarlo. Asimismo, los y las profesionales obstetras consideran ser las personas idóneas para enseñar el masaje infantil, debido a su experiencia directa tanto con los padres del/la bebé como con las y los infantes; al mismo tiempo recalcan su disposición para realizar la labor mencionada.Es necesario destacar que al iniciar la investigación, y tras realizar una revisión de diferentes textos relacionados con el tema, no existían estudios que relacionaran directamente la práctica del masaje infantil con la enfermería ginecoobstétrica y perinatal.
