Mosaico verde azul del Río Damas como modelo de conectividad ecológico y urbana. Una propuesta integral desde la perspectiva de la arquitectura paisajística.

Abstract

El crecimiento urbano está asociado directamente a un cambio en las coberturas y usos de suelo, cuyo principal resultado es la disminución de los espacios verdes y la impermeabilización del suelo, lo cual ha provocado el aumento de la temperatura (efecto de isla de calor) y la pérdida y destrucción de los hábitats naturales. Otros de los problemas producto del crecimiento urbano que se identificó en la zona de estudio fue la fragmentación de los ecosistemas, y ni que decir de la escasez y deterioro de los espacios públicos. Con el fin de favorecer el acceso de los ciudadanos a sitios donde puedan interactuar con la naturaleza y contar con espacios de esparcimiento y deporte, esta propuesta busca recuperar las zonas de retiro del Río Damas, y del derecho vial de algunas carreteras que así lo permiten. Se aborda además como una de las problemáticas principales de este proyecto el deterioro ambiental del Rio Damas y su zona de protección. Este proyecto final de graduación propone la intervención paisajística de la cuenca media del Río Damas, exactamente en un sector delimitado por las calles 212 y 408 específicamente entre San Antonio y Patarrá en el cantón de Desamparados y Río Azul del Cantón de La Unión. La propuesta busca llevar de nuevo el verde a esas calles, por medio de arborización, aceras con vegetación y recuperar las zonas de protección del Río Damas, incorporando en todos estos espacios intervenidos el espacio público. La intervención paisajística no solo devolverá la vegetación pérdida a las ciudades, y la restauración de un río, sino que también será el medio para reestablecer la conectividad ecológica entre dos importantes lomas que envuelven el sitio, la Loma San Antonio y la Loma Salitral.

Urban growth is directly associated with a change in coverage and land uses, the main result of which is the reduction of green spaces and the anthropogenic sealing of the soil (waterproofing), which has caused the increase in temperature (Urban heat island effect) and the loss and destruction of natural habitats. Other problems generated from urban growth that were identified in the study area were the fragmentation of ecosystems, not to mention the scarcity and deterioration of public spaces. In order to favor citizens' access to places where they can interact with nature and have spaces for recreation and sports, this proposal seeks to recover the protection areas of the Damas River, and the rights of way of some roads that allow it. One of the main problems of this project is also addressed as the environmental deterioration of the Damas River and its protection zone. This final graduation project proposes the landscape intervention of the middle basin of the Damas River, exactly in a sector delimited by the streets 212 and 408 specifically between San Antonio and Patarrá in the canton of Desamparados and Río Azul of the Canton of La Unión. The proposal seeks to bring green to these streets again, by means of trees, sidewalks with vegetation and to recover the protection areas of the Damas River, incorporating public space in all these intervened spaces. The landscape intervention will not only return the lost vegetation to the cities, and the restoration of a river, but it will also be the means to reestablish the ecological connectivity between two important hills that surround the site, the Loma San Antonio, and the Loma Salitral.
