Abstract
This brief manuscript succinctly analyzes the resistance to the progress of science and proposes that the main opposition originates from its own ranks. A careful questioning of novel ideas is considered necessary and justified, while warning against an undue resistance. A few examples are presented regarding the resistance originating from religion; in this case, it may or may not be warranted. Interestingly, the same examples are cases where an important opposition from science has been identified. In conclusion, the resistance to change current paradigms and to embrace progress might be an inherent quality of science, rather than a defect of religion.
