El cruce de muchos de los datos encontrados permitió ahondar en aspectos que ya se conocían como el alto grado de organización social del grupo y su aporte excepcional al desarrollo social y económico de la ciudad de Puntarenas.The aim of this research, an inter-institutional project carried out by 3 universities, is to recover the historical memory of the Chinese in Puntarenas. It was based on historical documents, artifacts kept at the Chinese Benevolent Society of Puntarenas, primary sources on Chinese immigration, and written and oral testimonies of descendants of Chinese immigrants who lived in Puntarenas during the last decades of the nineteenth century or the first half of the twentieth century.
