dc.description	This article analyzes the painting Allegory of coffee and bananas by italian painter Aleardo Villa. It studies the socio-historical context in which the painting was produced, as well as the social imaginaries that the image represents. The article contains three sections: the first one, addresses the importance of the National Theater’s inauguration and its link to the painting; the second one, contains an iconographic analysis of the Allegory; and, in closing, the paper approaches the perspective of the incorporation of this oil painting into the five colones bill.	en-US
dc.description	En este artículo se analiza la pintura Alegoría del café y del banano, del pintor italiano Aleardo Villa. Se estudia el contexto sociohistórico en que se (re)produjo, así como los imaginarios sociales que representa dicha imagen. Se proponen tres apartados: el primero, concedido a la importancia de la inauguración del Teatro Nacional y su vínculo con la pintura; el segundo, al análisis iconográfico de la Alegoría; y, a manera de cierre, un abordaje a partir de la incorporación de este óleo en el billete de cinco colones.	es-ES
