El vecino: En Representación de la Comunidad

Abstract

Resumen Esta charla considera argumentos que, en el contexto del siglo veinte, siembran dudas sobre la idea del vecino como un principio guia para la ética y la solidaridad. Tales argumentos se desarrollan a través de un análisis de la manera cómo frecuentemente la hostilidad y el antagonismo irrumpen entre los vecinos. Esto se vincula con el continuo fracaso en la arquitectura y el urbanismo para proveer de una propuesta alternativa a la proximidad humana. Abstract This lecture considers twentieth-century arguments that cast doubt on the idea of the neighbour as a guiding principle for ethics and social solidarity. It pursues these arguments through an analysis of the way in which hostility and antagonism frequently erupt between neighbours. It links this to the continuing failure within architecture and urbanism to provide an alternative approach to human proximity.
