Abstract
Venomous secretions are produced by a myriad of animal species, from invertebrates to vertebrates. As a general rule, peptides and proteins represent the most abundant and functionally relevant components of these dangerous “cocktails”. It may be argued that the first and indispensable requirement to understand a particular venom is to know its composition, and, to this end, the combination of -omics technologies have emerged as the most powerful tools available to date
