dc.description.abstractThis study on Beyond the Contributory Pension, Fourteen Latin American experiences has fifteen chapters, which discuss and analyze the various policy initiatives aimed at expanding public coverage beyond the contributory pension system of fourteen countries in the region. The first chapter discusses trends in protection policies economic of older adults in the region in recent decades, characterizing the reforms implemented through a typology and identifying any commonalities among the various national initiatives. Then, fourteen chapters are presented corresponding to each of the countries analyzed in which, considering the inherent characteristics of each experience and information available, the demographic context is addressed; the background to the development of traditional pension system; the performance of tax systems - particularly in terms of coverage and financing -; the design and implementation of new programs expansion of coverage; and its impact on the various relevant dimensions.es_ES
