Etnoturismo en el cantón de Buenos Aires, Costa Rica. Retos y lecciones de aprendidas

Abstract

El artículo sintetiza los resultados arrojados por la investigación sobre rutas inter cantonales con el componente etnoturístico en la Región Brunca de Costa Rica (financiado por el Programa PNUD y gestionado por el Ministerio de Economía y Comercio de Costa Rica). El objetivo del estudio consiste en presentar las lecciones aprendidas y los retos de 11 proyectos de etnoturismo ubicados en el cantón de Buenos Aires. Los hallazgos indican que las empresas etnoturísticas son una importante fuente de empleo y han ayudado al rescate del patrimonio cultural de la zona. Ellas necesitan capacitación en idiomas, gestión del visitante, calidad, mercadeo, manejo de residuos sólidos y líquidos e interpretación ambiental.The article summarizes results of the research on inter county routes with an ethnotourism approach in the Brunca region of Costa Rica (funded by the UNDP Program and managed by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce of Costa Rica. The objective of this study is to present the lessons learned and the challenges of 11 ethno tourism projects located in the county of Buenos Aires. The results show that ethnotourism businesse s are a major source of employment, aiming to rescue the cultural heritage of the area. They need training in languages, visitor management, quality, marketing, solid and liquid waste management, and environmental interpretation.
