Resumen
Durante el periodo diciembre 2001 a abril 2002, se caracterizó un eslabón básico de la cadena agroproductiva de la leche en Turrialba. La fase agroindustrial se compone de 14 pequeñas plantas de producción agrupadas dentro de un esquema de Asociación Productiva, que generan ventas brutas anuales de más de ¢ 981 millones dentro de una zona laboralmente deprimida, debido a las pocas opciones generadoras de empleo rural. Se destacan las limitantes actuales y los aportes socioeconmicos de la industria láctea, y se exponen los principales resultados surgidos del diagnóstico participativo efectuado por los propios agentes industriales de la zona; se destacan los requerimientos y apoyos para enfrentar las limitaciones de la actividad hacia condiciones de mayor competitividad y posicionamiento, dentro de un mercado de su conformacin oligoplica, fuerte concentracin de capital y empresas de gran tradición productiva y comercial.
A basic link of the dairy agro- productive chain was characterized in Turrialba, Costa Rica, during the period from December 2001 to April 2002. The agro-industrial phase is composed of 14 small producing plants, grouped under a Productive Association scheme, which generate a total annual gross sale of over 981 million. It is located within a labor deprived zone, due to the scarce options of generating rural employment. The current limiting factors and the socio-economic contributions of the dairy industry were emphasized, the main results of the participating diagnosis conducted by the same local industrial agents are exposed; the requirements and supports are highlighted to face the limitations of the activity to attain a greater competitiveness and positioning within a market of oligarchic conformation, high concentration of resources and enterprises of long productive and commercial tradition.
