Sialoadenitis bacteriana supurativa: reporte de caso y revisión de literatura

Abstract

Resumen Introducción: la sialoadenitis es una inflamación de las glándulas salivales, puede ser aguda o crónica. Etiología de tipo obstructiva (por cálculos o estenosis) o por consecuencia de una infección bacteriana, viral o por hongos. Se presenta como aumento de volumen de la glándula salival, dolor y mal sabor de boca o xerostomía. El tratamiento va orientado al origen de la inflamación. Reporte de caso: mujer de 32 de años que presentaba aumento de volumen en el piso derecho de la boca, una semana de evolución, asociada a una adenopatía en cuello. Se realizó una minuciosa anamnesis y exámenes complementarios, confirmando el diagnóstico de una sialoadenitis bacteriana supurativa aguda. Se le brindó tratamiento con antibióticos y antiinflamatorios. Conclusiones: se demuestra la importancia del reconocimiento, apoyo en los medios diagnósticos y manejo oportuno de la sialoadenitis bacteriana supurativa aguda en la glándula sublingual, mejorando sustancialmente la calidad de vida de la paciente.Abstract Introduction: Sialadenitis is an inflammation of the salivary glands, it can be acute or chronic. Obstructive etiology (due to stones or stenosis), or as a consequence of a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. It presents as an increase in the volume of the salivary gland, pain and a bad taste in the mouth or xerostomia. The treatment is oriented to the origin of the inflammation. Case report: A 32-year-old woman who presented an increase in volume in the right floor of the mouth, one week of evolution, associated with a lymphadenopathy in the neck. A meticulous anamnesis and complementary examinations were carried out, confirming the diagnosis of acute bacterial suppurative sialadenitis. Antibiotics and anti-inflammatories were treated. Conclusions: The importance of recognition, support in the diagnostic means and timely management of acute suppurative bacterial sialadenitis in the sublingual gland is demonstrated, substantially improving the quality of life of the patient.
