Mastitis Crónica Granulomatosa: una enfermedad que mimetiza el cáncer de mama

Abstract

The chronic granulomatous mastitis is a rare condition that affects women in their childbear- ing years, with clinical, mammographic, eco- graphic and hystological characteristics that ressemble a breast carcinoma. Effective proto- cols for the diagnosis and treatment of this dis- ease have been proposed, but none of them have been able to become the gold standard in treat- ment for this group of patients. The purpose of this review is to establish the differential diagno- sis with breast carcinoma and the best approach for this challenging pathology.

La Mastitis Crónica Granulomatosa es una enfermedad rara, que se presenta en mujeres en edad reproductiva, con características clínicas, mamográficas, ecográficas y citológicas sugestivas de cáncer mamario. Protocolos efectivos de diagnóstico y tratamiento han sido propuestos, sin embargo ninguno ha podido ser establecido como el estándar a seguir. El propósito de esta revisión es discutir su diagnóstico diferencial con el carcinoma de mama y el abordaje de esta rara patología mamaria.
