Se hizo un estudio ultraestructural del espermatozoide de rata tomado del tubo seminífero, con microscopia electrónica de transmisión y mediante la aplicación de las técnicas de: secciones finas, microextendidos y réplicas. Los espermatozoides aislados y extendidos, presentan una cabeza de gran densidad electrónica, muy homogénea y ligeramente curva en el extremo anterior; las secciones finas y longitudinales de esta zona corroboran lo compacto y homogéneo del ADN, cubierto por las membranas nuclear y celular y por una pequeña cantidad de material acrosómico.A nivel de la pieza media, se observó los centríolos modificados en la pieza de unión o la cabeza y en los microtúbulos del flagelo. En secciones transversales y réplicas de éstas a nivel de la vaina mitocondrial se observan los 10 pares de microtúbulos y las 9 fibras densas, rodeadas por las mitocondrias que se disponen en forma circular. En el segmento final de la cola, los microtúbulos conservan el arreglo de dos centrales y 9 pares que los rodean.
Ultrastructures spermatozoa taken from the seminiferous tubules of rat testes (Rattus norvegicus) were observed under transmission electron microscopy, u sing the techniques of ultrathin sections, microspeading specimens and replicas. The heads of isolated spermatozoa were of homogeneously high electron density, and had a slightly curved end; in longitudinal sections these zones were composed of a compact homogeneous DNA, covered by a nuclear envelop, cell membrane and small amounts of acrosomal material. The middle piece contained the modified centriols in the junction zone and flagelal microtubules. In transverse sections as well as in replicas, this region consisted of 10 pairs of microtubules and 9 dense fibers surrounded circularly by the mitochondria (mitochondrial sheath).
