The technical weaknesses of the production systems, which limits its competitiveness before the new conditions of the international market, are discussed. Five large challenges of the sector and the goals that they must attain to raise their competitiveness are stated, before the market aperture. Lastly, the type of managerial techniques and managers required by the enterprises is discussed, in order to guarantee its sustainability within the new globalization context.
