Estudios técnicos realizados para la aplicación del Índice de Regularidad Internacinal IRI en Costa Rica

Abstract

El Índice de Regularidad Internacional es un parámetro de suma importancia en el control de calidad de aceptación de proyectos nuevos y en la gestión de los pavimentos en general. Con el control de este índice es posible asegurar el confort y calidad del viaje del usuario por una carretera. Es por tal motivo que se hace importante su introducción en el quehacer diario de la ingeniería de pavimentos.

En el presente documento se presentan las labores realizadas por las diferentes unidades del Programa de Infraestructura del Transporte del LanammeUCR, para la aplicación del Índice de Regularidad Internacional (IRI), en Costa Rica.

A continuación se compilan los documentos más relevantes en el tema donde se abordan aspectos relacionados con: definiciones y conceptos importantes, investigación, metodologías de recopilación de datos, evaluación de resultados, fiscalización de proyectos nuevos y asesoría en el tema del IRI.

La finalidad de la realización de este compendio, es poner a disposición del público involucrado en el tema, información relevante que pueda facilitar la interpretación y aplicación de este parámetro, así como la homologación a nivel nacional, de criterios técnicos en cuanto a conceptos y metodología para la determinación del IRI, tomando como base la experiencia de 10 años por parte del LanammeUCR, en esta materia. Lo anterior, en definitiva, para contribuir a través de la Transferencia de Tecnología, con la mejora de los estándares de la red vial y por ende, de la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos.The International Regularity Index is a parameter of great importance in the quality control of acceptance of new projects and in the management of pavements in general. With the control of this index it is possible to ensure the comfort and quality of the user's journey on a road. It is for this reason that its introduction into the daily work of pavement engineering becomes important. This paper presents the work carried out by the different units of the Transportation Infrastructure Program of the LanammeUCR, for the application of the International Regularity Index (IRI), in Costa Rica. The most relevant documents are compiled below, where aspects related to: definitions and important concepts, research, data collection methodologies, evaluation of results, inspection of new projects and advice on the subject of IRI are addressed.

The purpose of the realization of this compendium, is to make available to the public involved in the subject, relevant information that may facilitate the interpretation and application of this parameter, as well as the approval at the national level, of technical criteria in terms of concepts and methodology for the determination of the IRI, based on the experience of 10 years by the LanammeUCR, in this matter. The above, in short, to contribute through the transfer of technology, with the improvement of the standards of the road network and therefore, the quality of life of citizens.
