Abstract
No hubo diferencia
bumper.
Objective: to know the frequency of the different appliances utilized in interceptive orthodontic treatments, performed by Universidad de Costa Rica Dentistry students during the 2013 to 2015 Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics Clinics I and II. Materials and Methods: Both records from each Orthodontic instructor and laboratory ballots were collected during the study years. The data was recorded by age, sex and orthodontic appliances. Results: A total of 1,163 appliances were placed. The 54,25% of the appliances utilized were fixed and the 45,75% were removable. The most common fixed appliance was the lingual arch (n=423) and the most common removable appliance was the Hawley (n=431). There was no significant difference between the number of appliances utilized and the gender. The total number of patients attended was 896 children, of whom 264 (29,46%) needed two appliances to resolve their problems. Conclusion: the appliances most frequency used were the Hawley and the lingual arch, and the least used were the quad helix and the lip bumper.
