The present work studies the contribution of shear capacity of the electrowelded mesh reinforcement system with mortar thrown in confined masonry walls once they have been preloaded to cyclical loads in two types of aspect ratios (h/l = 0.5 and h/l = 1). The importance of this research lies in the fact that this type of reinforcement is currently widely used in Costa Rica, since it is considered cheap and easy to work, however, there is no theory that supports the use of said reinforcement. The results were obtained from the construction of six full-scale walls, three with an aspect ratio h/l = 0.5 (one standard and two that were preloaded and repaired) and three with an aspect ratio h/l = 1 (one standard and two that were preloaded and repaired). The results showed that once the walls have been preloaded by 94% of their maximum capacity (standard walls), after being repaired with electrowelded mesh and sprayed mortar, they can regain their original load capacity and exceed it by 36%. in the case of walls h/l = 0.5 and in 22% in the case of walls h/l = 1. In addition, it was observed that by doubling the value of the aspect ratio (from h/l = 0.5 to h/l = 1), the capacity of the reinforcement contribution is reduced almost by half.
