Abstract
AIDS continues to attract the attention of a wide sector of the world community, and this translates into separation from its original interests by many researchers in all fields of creativity. The growth in knowledge on the causal agent, epidemiology, clinical aspects and psychosocial factors of AIDS, has been greater than with any other viral agent or infectious disease of man or animal. The phenomenon is unique in the annals of medicine and universal science. However, the effort has not lead to a vaccine to prevent infection or to a treatment of the resulting disease, although significant steps have been taken in that direction. The transfer and adoption of correct information on AIDS to the general population, and especially to the groups with greater risk of acquiring it. is considered to be the main weapon in the struggle to prevent dissemination of the virus.
