Abstract
This research is a literature review focused on Madelung's deformity, a congenital anomaly of the wrist. Objectives. The overall objective was to conduct a systematic review of existing research on this deformity between 2019 and 2024. Methodology. Documentary, with a focus on researching specialized academic sources. Data is analyzed to gain a deep understanding of the deformity, its management, and the future implications in studying this condition. Theoretical framework. The theoretical framework addresses the conceptual assessment and etiology of Madelung's deformity, describing it as a condition that primarily affects women and becomes clinically apparent during adolescence. Radiological characteristics, complex anatomy, and surgical management options are discussed, with inverted wedge osteotomy of the distal radius being highlighted as an effective treatment. Conclusions. The conclusions highlight the need for further research to optimize the management of Madelung's deformity. The importance of a thorough understanding and careful management of the condition is emphasized, as well as the relevance of scientific advancements in improving the quality of life for those affected.
