Abstract
A partir del uso de periódicos y memorias institucionales, se estudia el vínculo entre la pobreza y la infancia en el periodo entre 1950 y1978, haciendo un énfasis en lo relacionado con la nutrición infantil, entendida esta como un componente de la salud de la niñez y a la vez, como un factor estrechamente relacionado con las condiciones de vida de los niños. Luego se explica el consumo de leche y carne de res por parte de la de la niñez pobre, las críticas emanadas desde la izquierda hacia ciertos alimentos, el gobierno, sus políticas sobre la nutrición infantil así como el estado nutricional de los niños. Finalmente, se hará un balance de las respuestas y medidas institucionales hacia la desnutrición infantil, específicamente en el caso de los comedores y los centros de nutrición.
Using newspapers and institutional memories, this paper studies the relationship between poverty and childhood between 1950 and 1978, making an emphasis in the child nutrition, understood as a component of the child health, but at the same time, as an important factor related with the life conditions of children. Then, we analyze milk and beef consumption by poor children, the critics from the left to certain foods and to the Government, its policies toward child nutrition, and also the nutritional status of children. Finally, a balance will be made between the institutional responses and the actions to the child malnutrition, specially on the case of the nutritional centers and the school cafeterias.
