This research focuses on the implementation and evaluation of quality control protocols for computed tomography (CT) equipment in Latin America, specifically using IAEA-TECDOC-1958. The main objective is to apply these protocols using two phantoms:ACR 464 and Advanced iqModules. Five protocols were adapted for the CT of the PET/CT Biograph Vision 450 at the University of Costa Rica, comparing the capabilities of both phantoms. Although Advanced iqModules showed certain advantages, for instance, having with more inserts for some measurements, it lacked the necessary ones to determine the accuracy of the CT number. While the test results were mostly acceptable, there were exceptions, especially in the accuracy of the CT number. Deficiencies were identified in the specificity of the protocols and tolerances of IAEA-TECDOC-1958. In summary, the research highlights the application of IAEA-TECDOC-1958, evaluates both phantoms, and emphasizes the importance of adapting protocols to specific equipment, providing valuable information for the continuous improvement of quality control in CT equipment.
