Abstract
Los estudios de mixomicetes en ecosistemas de
manglar no son comunes; principalmente se han
llevado a cabo en Brasil. En esta investigación, se
realizó el primer muestreo de mixomicetes asociados
a dos especies de plantas de manglar en El Salvador,
y por extensión, en Centroamérica. Para ello, se
recolectó material vegetal en descomposición en
el campo y se aislaron los microorganismos con la
técnica de cámara húmeda. Con un esfuerzo de
60 muestras de campo, se registraron 17 especies
de mixomicetes, de las cuales 11 no habían sido
previamente comunicadas para los ecosistemas de
manglar a nivel mundial según la literatura revisada.
Estos resultados mostraron que, si bien la presencia
de mixomicetes en manglares era previamente
conocida, la diversidad de especies asociadas a estos
ecosistemas todavía es poco estudiada. Además, el
estudio mostró que los manglares centroamericanos
albergan especies diferentes a las presentes en
los manglares de Sudamérica. Se requieren más
estudios en la región centroamericana para evaluar
las razones.

The total effort of 60 samples yielded 17 species of myxomycetes, from which 11 had not previously been communicated for such ecosystems, worldwide, based on the literature. These results were relevant and showed that even though the presence of myxomycetes in mangroves was previously known, their diversity is still poorly documented. Results also demonstrated that Central American mangroves host a different assemblage than South American ones. More studies in Central America are required to test the underlying reasons
