La fotografía como recurso documental para la reconstrucción visual de espacios históricos de San Ramón, Alajuela de 1890 a 1924

Abstract

La fotografía se ha consolidado como una herramienta documental de valiosa importancia, al permitir registrar realidades, para inmortalizarse en el tiempo. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo describir la importancia del material gráfico como documento histórico, a la vez que detalla los resultados parciales de la investigación en la que se recopila y cataloga el material fotográfico de la ciudad de San Ramón de los inicios del Siglo XX, para lograr una reconstrucción visual de la ciudad. Metodológicamente, el proyecto recopiló el material fotográfico y documental de San Ramón antes de 1950, para posteriormente delimitar la época de estudio (1890 a 1924). A continuación, se ubicaron las edificaciones temporal y espacialmente, y se completó el proceso con el análisis de material documental adicional que permitió contextualizar la realidad por representar. Como resultado de la investigación se recopilan 177 fotografías con información arquitectónica del periodo en estudio. Entre el material visual adicional se detallan partituras, fotografías de retratos y medios de transporte de la época, lo que permite contextualizar más de dos kilómetros lineales de información fidedigna.Photography has been consolidated as a valuable documental tool, allowing us to register realities to immortalize them through time. The goal in this article is to describe the relevance of graphic material as a historical document, whilst detailing the preliminary results of the research wherein photographic material from the city of San Ramon from the beginning of the XX century is collected and categorized to achieve a visual reconstruction of the city. Methodologically, the project compiled photographic and documental materials from San Ramon before 1950, to then delimit the period of study (1890 to 1924). The buildings were identified through time and space, the process was completed with the analysis of the additional documental material that allowed us to contextualize the reality to be represented. As a result of the research, 177 photographs were compiled containing architectural information of the period of study. Among the additional visual material, there were musical sheets, portraits, and photographs of the transportation system of the time, which allowed for the contextualization of more than two linear kilometers of trustworthy information.
