La lactancia humana como práctica biopsicocultural

Abstract

Este artículo ofrece un análisis de 101 reportes de investigación empírica, desde las ciencias médicas y sociales, sobre la lactancia humana. Se encuentran dos ejes de investigación: uno, sobre la relación entre la lactancia y la salud humana; y el otro, sobre la lactancia como fenómeno biopsicocultural. El desarrollo de este proyecto evidencia la importancia de esta práctica, tanto evolutiva como nutricional, para el ser humano, su uso como mecanismo afectivo y la universalidad de la lactancia humana, aunque es una práctica culturalmente diferidaThis article offers an analysis of 101 reports of empirical research from the medical and social sciences on human breastfeeding. We find two axes of research; one on the relationship between breastfeeding and human health and the other on breastfeeding as a bio-psycho-cultural phenomenon. The research evidences the importance of this evolutionary and nutritional practice for the human being, its use as an affective mechanism and the universality of human breastfeeding. Although is a culturally deferred practice.
