Abstract

After the independence from the Spanish crown, expectations, achievements and frustration came together and faced the agents while building new subordination relations within the nation’s boundaries. “Justice” and “Security” are two significant concepts. Their use in presidential speeches shape, little by little, the national identity, while building a functional autonomy of both concepts, which is characteristic of the republican government model, according to particular interests, enlightened concepts and specific contexts.
