Combate químico de malas hierbas en caña de azúcar cv. H 57-5174

Abstract

Se realizó un experimento de combate químico de malas hierbas en cañas de azúcar (Saccharum officinarum) en Santa Gertrudis de Grecia, Alajuela, en caña planta con el cv. H 57-5174 en un suelo de textura franca -franca limosa, también se incluyó un testigo a libre competencia y un testigo deshierbado a los 45 y 90 días después de la siembra. Los tratamientos químicos a base de ametrina + terbutilazina, hexazinona + diurón, terbutilazina + diurón + 2,4-D fueron los que ejercieron un mejor combate de malezas tanto de hoja ancha como de gramíneas puesto que redujeron en un 98% la población de malezas comparado con el testigo a libre competencia. El tratamiento de más bajo costo fue la mezcla de hexazinona (0,164 kg/ha) + diurón (0,8 kg/ha). Los tratamientos químicos no afectaron el desarrollo del cultivo de la caña de azúcar.

In Alajuela, Costa Rica, treatments for the chemical control of weeds in a newly planted stand of sugar cane of the cultivar H 57-5174 were evaluated. There were both preemergence and early postemergence treatments, besides hand weeded and check plots. The best weed control was obtained with ametrine +terbutilasyne, hexazinone + diuron, terbutilasyne and diuron + 2,4-D which showed a decrease of the broa leave weeds and grasses of 98%, as compared to the check treatment. The lowest cost treatment was the mixture of hexazinone (0.165 kg/ha) ´diuron (0´8 kg/ha). None of the herbicide treatments produced undesirable effects on the sugar cane.
