Abstract
Una de las actividades principales de la taxonomía es la revisión de material tipo de las
colecciones con los que analizan y establecen los límites de las especies determinando nuevas
especies o la sinonimia de las mismas. Las colecciones pueden moverse por diferentes motivos
administrativos de las instituciones con lo que es posible que se pierda el material o no se conozca
con certeza a donde fue reubicado. La Colección de Thysanoptera de la Universidad de Costa
Rica se empezó en 1991 y estuvo inicialmente en el Museo de Insectos de la Universidad de
Costa Rica, luego pasó a la Escuela de Biología de la Universidad de Costa Rica y por último al
Centro de Investigación en Estructuras Microscópicas de la Universidad de Costa Rica donde fue
formalmente inscrita en el Museo+UCR desde el año 2010. En este trabajo se presenta la lista
actualizada de material tipo registrado en esta colección.

The Thysanoptera Collection of the University of Costa Rica began in 1991 and was initially in the Museum of Insects of the University of Costa Rica, then transferred to the Biology School of the University of Costa Rica and finally to the Research Center in Microscopic Structures of the University of Costa Rica where it was formally inscribed in the Museum + UCR from the year 2010.
