Distribución temporal de la precipitación en la cuenca del río Virilla

Abstract

La distribución temporal de la precipitación en la cuenca del río Virilla, Costa Rica, fue analizada en esta contribución. Se determinó que en esta cuenca, la más urbanizada de ese país, se presentan al menos cuatro distribuciones temporales de precipitación pluvial. La ocurrencia de estas distribuciones está estrechamente ligada con los vientos predominantes en la región y la geomorfología de la cuenca. Adicionalmente, se demarcaron preliminarmente las zonas de influencia de cada una de las distribuciones temporales con el fin de proveer a la comunidad de ingenieros la información necesaria para resolver muchos problemas hidrológicos.The time distribution of the rainfall on the Virilla river basin, Costa Rica, was analyzed in this contribution. It was found that within the basin, the most urbanized in this country, there are at least four rainfall temporal patterns. The occurrence of these patterns is closely related to the prevailing winds and the geomorphology of the region. In addition, the influence zone of each temporal distribution was preliminary mapped with the aim of providing to the engineering community the needed information to solve many hydrological problems.
