Abstract
Parkinson's disease has increased its prevalence in recent years, favored by an increase in life expectancy. Despite the existence of successful medical treatment, over the years adverse effects associated with the medication develop, such as motor fluctuations and dyskinesias, that can sometimes be disabling. Deep brain stimulation is a surgical treatment that has been shown to improve these symptoms and thus the quality of life of these patients. In this bibliographic review, the main anesthetic considerations in this type of surgery and the diverse anesthetic techniques used are exposed, as well as a comparison between these techniques and their influence on the results obtained with stimulation of the basal ganglia.
